BMS does not have a dedicated EV charging spot, however one of our shared spaces has a Type 2 EV charger connected to it. This space is the closest one to the white, plastic compressor box. It only has enough cable to reach the front right of your vehicle if you park nose in and close to the concrete pad. Please be sensible and do not cause a trip hazard.
This has a maximum safe charge rate of approximately 5kW set. You will have to climb up onto the compressor box to turn it on / unravel the cable. Please check for damage/rust before connecting to your vehicle. Make sure to return the cable to the hook, neatly wound up with the cap placed back on the end. Please turn it off when not in use.
Do NOT use your own EVSE, even if it has the right 32A plug. You may trip the circuit and cause damage to tools. If you want to use a 10A EVSE plugged into a wall socket, this is possible if no-one is using the CNC machine. You must remain downstairs while the downstairs door is open.
You may ask to reshuffle cars around to access this space, but needing to charge your EV does not give you priority access to the carpark if there are no spaces left. However, this does not preclude you asking, just make it clear they are under no obligation to move and you should probably offer to cover any parking meter costs. The EV charger is here for convenience only.
There is a small chance you may trip the circuit if the upstairs air conditioning is on and it's a hot day. We recommend only charging when the rear airconditioning unit upstairs it switched off but you will not be held responsible for damage as long you didn't change the change rate limit on the EVSE. If you cause a nusiance trip that impacts other people using the space, please stop charging and ask on Discord for advice.
Do NOT change the maximum charge rate on the EVSE or plug your own in or you WILL trip the circuit. If this happens you will be held responsible for damage to any tools (and projects) that were in use at the time.
Provided there is room in the space, you may charge your bike, scooter or other electric PMD using any free wall socket. You must remain on site while it is charging and in the same room (short trips away are fine, but no more than 10 minutes at a time). Please familiarise yourself with the location of the fire blankets and be prepared to call emergency services immediately if you notice any smoke or fire coming from your device.
